Floor resurfacing or Floor Preparation is where the substrate – usually concrete or wood is prepared for tiles, over lays, timber etc.
Un-level or damaged floors have to be fixed. Floor preparation usually consists of fast drying flooring compounds along side grinding of the floor to make level or flat.
There are many products used from out-door compounds, indoor compounds and hard board. Each compound has its own advantage.
Floor prep in some cases can be as simple as particle board joins being sanded from cupping before the laying of carpet to more complex methods of laying out screeds and setting floor levels.
Floorcoat uses levels and specialised laser equipment to scan the floor – This gives us a map of the floor for us to work on. Concrete floor preparation usually consists of grinding the concrete flat from one point working your way to another point on the floor.
We run a dust free environment.
Floor preparation includes anti slip grooving.
Bellow is a picture of Jeff doing floor preparation on masonry over a timber floor. This small floor was out 40mm in places and required 10 x 25kg bags of FLC to make the floor flat for tiling.
